How Aura works, and what it doesn't do
Answers describe this preview build as it is today. Anything not switched on yet says so.
What does “checked against opening hours” mean?
For each stop Aura reads the place's opening hours from OpenStreetMap and evaluates them for the actual date and time slot of your plan (morning 9:00–12:30, afternoon 13:30–17:30, evening 18:00–22:00). The check says one of four things: open for the whole visit, open only part of the slot (less than the visit needs), closed at that time, or not checked.
“Not checked” is said, not guessed: it appears when OpenStreetMap has no hours for the place, when the value is in a format Aura does not read yet, or for open-air places with no hours listed. Hours come from volunteers' map data and can be out of date: for a ticketed or seasonal place, check the official site before you go.
What Aura does not do
- It does not book or sell anything. Bookings you add to the wallet are your own notes; Aura never moves them when it rearranges a day.
- It does not charge anything. Aura+ is a proposal, not on sale.
- It does not track your location. “Live” uses the trip's dates and the time on your device, not GPS. The older map screen shows where you are only when you press its locate button, and that position stays in the page.
- It shows no ads and does not sell data, in any plan.
- It does not invent facts: travel times, prices and weather say where they came from, and what Aura does not know is shown as unknown.
Where are my trips stored?
Without an account, a trip lives only in this browser (clearing the site's data removes it). With an account, trips are stored in Aura's database and only your account can read them. A browser trip can be moved to your account from Trips → Save to account. What is stored on your device.
How do I export my data?
Open You → Privacy & account → Download a copy of your data. The file (JSON) contains your trips (browser trips from this browser only), your email if you are signed in, and booking references in full, so keep it private.
How do I delete my account?
Signed in, open You → Privacy & account → Delete account, type DELETE and press “Delete my account”. When deletion is switched on, this removes your sign-in and every trip in your account in one step.
Where deletion is not switched on (this preview), the button says so and deletes nothing. Aura then still holds your sign-in record (email address, account id, sign-in times) and the trips saved to your account, with their bookings and notes. What you can do: delete each trip from Your trips (this removes it from Aura's database), then ask for the account to be deleted by writing to privacy@auratrip.app (from You → Your data the email is prepared with your account id). It is handled by hand within one month.
Is there a paid plan?
No. Planning stays free, and nothing can be bought in this preview. The Aura+ page describes what a paid plan might add, without prices. Your plan, as Aura's server reports it for your account, is shown there.
Does Aura measure how the app is used?
Not in this build: no analytics is switched on. If it is turned on later, it will count steps (for example “a plan was arranged”) without your email, trip names, places or location, and the cookies and storage notice will say so before it starts.
